The GoDaddy.com Bowl is a Division I college football bowl game that's been played every year since 1999. The next game is scheduled to take place January 8th, 2012, and will air live on ESPN® at 8 p.m. CST. As in past years, the game will again be played at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.

Like last year, the 2012 event will pit Sun Belt Conference champions against the championship team in the Mid-American Conference. In the 2011 GoDaddy.com Bowl, Miami University (MAC) bested Middle Tennessee State University (Sun Belt) 35 to 21.

It was a particularly sweet victory for the Ohio team, capping the best comeback season in college football history. In fact, the RedHawks became the first team in Football Bowl Subdivision history to lose 10 games one season (2009) and win 10 the next (2010). Miami Interim Coach Lance Guidry accepted the 2011 GoDaddy.com Bowl trophy from none other than Racing star and Go Daddy Girl® Danica Patrick.

The Bowl was created in 1999 to showcase the Mid-American Conference against Conference USA. Originally known as the Mobile Alabama Bowl, the first game was played Dec. 22, 1999. Texas Christian University beat East Carolina 28 to 14.

In 2001, GMAC became the bowl sponsor just in time to witness history being made. During that game, Marshall University set a record for biggest bowl comeback, battling back from a 30-point deficit to win 64-61. The double-overtime game against East Carolina also set a record at the time for the highest-scoring bowl game ever.

Seven years later, another record was set when the Bowling Green Falcons succumbed to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in the most uneven bowl upset ever. The final score of the 2008 matchup was 63-7.

This and other games have given the GoDaddy.com Bowl a reputation for extraordinarily high scores. The average game score over the Bowl's 12-year history is 66+ points, with teams earning a combined score of 70 points or more in five of those years. Two of these top-scoring games went into double overtime.

Until 2007, this NCAA-sanctioned post-season game was held in December. The 2012 match marks the second consecutive year for the GoDaddy.com Bowl to be sponsored by global domain registrar GoDaddy.com and the sixth bowl game to be held in January.

In the 12 years since the Bowl began, the University of Tulsa, Miami University (Ohio), Marshall University, and Southern Miss have each won twice.
