GoDaddy.com entered prime-time sports in a big way in 2007, sponsoring both the
ESPN2 Saturday night college football games and wide receiver
Chad Johnson.
Considered one of the league's "most fun players to watch," Chad broke his own team's
single-season record for receiving yards in 2007. He ended the season with 93 catches,
making it the fourth 90-catch season of his career. The broadcast deal made GoDaddy.com
the official presenting sponsor of the 2007 Saturday night games, which featured
on-air announcements, logo placement and a number of commercials on the sports network,
including ABC. The company's sponsorship decision came on the heels of a successful
year as broadcast sponsor for the 2007 Indianapolis 500 Race and sponsor of IndyCar
®driver and Go Daddy Girl
Danica Patrick.
The world's largest domain name registrar initially made a name for itself with
its
Super Bowl advertising, making Super Bowl
history with its controversial "wardrobe malfunction" commercial of 2005. Attracted
by college football's loyal audience and key demographics, the company has since
assumed an additional role as marquee advertiser for collegiate football. "This
is an audience we really like," said
Go Daddy CEO
and Founder Bob Parsons. The vast majority are Internet users, and the best part
of it is these viewers are absolutely passionate. Our research shows college football
fans rank third for fan intensity behind the NFL and NASCAR."
Three Go Daddy commercials featuring Chad aired on ESPN2 during the Saturday night
games.
